WHY AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL
· Players participating in American Legion programs have a 12% chance of playing at the college level
· Recreational softball for adults remains one of the most participated leisure activities across Canada
· The season is typically from mid-May to the 3rd week of July (District Tournament), meaning that much of the summer is still free for players’ and their families. (If the team advances to the Montana State Championships the season goes until the end of July)
· Transportation and hotel rooms are provided for the team for all away games/ tournaments.
· Coaches with college, professional and national level experience—players will be taught the proper skills to reach their potential
JUNIOR PROGRAM
WHO IS ELIGIBLE: Players aged 14-16 **16 year olds will not be eligible for Baseball Alberta provincials play
COST: $250 - includes Hat, T-shirt and allows players to participate in all practices and home games with the “A” team- also includes tournament fees and accommodation for away tournaments. NO FUNDRAISING
TIME COMMITMENT: Players can attend when practices/ home games when they are available, however participation IS NOT MANDATORY- come when you can
GAMES: IF there are 10 or more players aged 14-15 this team will participate in Baseball Alberta Provincials, in addition there will be exhibition games against other Junior programs. In the event of injuries some junior players will be called up to the “A” program
AMERICAN LEGION “A” PROGRAM
WHO IS ELIGIBLE: Players aged 16-19 (As of Dec 31, 2019)
COST: $1750 - includes team gear, as well as accommodation and transportation for all away games.
FUNDRAISING: Each player is expected to help with a fundraiser (cash calendars, raffle etc.) of up to $500 as well as obtain one $250 player sponsor.
PRACTICES: Indoor training begins in March/ April (once a week). Outdoor practices begin in May and vary from 2-4 times per week
GAMES- 40-45 games (includes league play, 3 tournaments, and District and State Play-offs) Games begin May long weekend until the end of July
